PAM created the environment which enabled the people to develop a spirit of entrepreneurship and self-reliance, leading to an improved quality of life and standard of living. 1966

People's Action Movement's First Election

PAM first contested national elections in 1966. PAM received 35.0% of the votes and won two seats.

1980

PAM Forms Government
PAM won three seats in the 1980 elections and formed a coalition government with the Nevis Reformation Party.

1983

PAM Leads SKN to Independence
PAM leader, and the country's first Primer Minister, Hon Kennedy Simmonds led the country to independence in 1983.

1984

Female Empowerment
Constance V. Mitcham, the first woman to sit in the national assembly, was elected as a PAM candidate in 1984.

1984

World's First CBI Programme 

The world’s FIRST Citizenship by Investment Programme was started under a PAM government, and remains the best in the world!

1995

Port Zante
Port Zante was built in 1995 on 25 acres of reclaimed land from the sea under a Peoples Action Movement Government.

2015

Shawn Richards becomes Deputy Prime Minister
